How To Grow/maintain Orchids!

This is based on my experience of growing orchids for
about three years.
Setting Up the growing medium:
Step#1:
You will need the following: 1. Pieces of Tree bark.
2. Small lava rocks which can retain water.
3. Moss.
4. Wide mouthed flower pot.
5. Orchid food.
6. Water sprayer.
7. Orchid plant.
8. Very small amount of Potting soil (for an 8 inch flower pot, three table spoon will do!).
Please be extra careful so as not to put more potting soil.
Step#2:
1. Mix one part (by volume) of tree bark with three parts of lava rock.
2. Mix the small amount of potting soil with the mixture obtained in step 1.
3. Put most of the mixture in the flower pot and make a mound in the middle.
4. Take out the Orchid plant from the container it came, and remove any dried leaves, branches etc.
5. Set the orchid plant in the flower pot, so that it sits on the mound.
6. Spread the roots all around.
7. Now with the remaining mixture, fill the pot halfway through the roots.
8. Please do not bury the roots completely.
9. Water the plant and cover the roots with moss. Use lukewarm water always.
10.Spray lukewarm water all over the plant.
Maintenance:
Now, where to keep the Orchid? I live in Arizona, and the best place, I have found
is the bath room. I have kept the plant in a place, where it gets diffused sunlight for
about one hour every day. I spray it every day with water. And the bath room is always humid!
So, you will have to find a place, where the above conditions are satisfied to keep the orchid.
I use the orchid food once in a month to feed the orchid. So, far it is great. It is flowering and
the flowers generally stay fresh for about three/four months. Good Luck!
More information is on the way......!
